Our Story
Jen and Ian first pledged their lives to one another in 2002. Entranced by the quiet majesty and grounding presence of the Shenandoah Valley, they chose the peaceful outskirts of Luray to plant their roots, raise their family, and cultivate a slower way of living.
By blending Ian’s love for natural craftsmanship with Jen’s passion for warm, authentic hospitality, they set out to craft a true sanctuary. Big Oak Ranch stands as a living testament to their shared vision… a timeless place where the rustle of ancient oaks and the soft mountain breeze invite you to leave the modern rush behind, slow down, and reconnect.

When we first envisioned Big Oak Ranch, our goal was simple: to share the profound, restorative magic of this ranch with others. We believe that modern life moves far too fast, and we all need a place where the cell signal fades, the ancient oaks offer shade, and the only schedule to follow is the slow movement of the sun across the sky.

Having spent most of her career in Corporate America as an executive for national and global firms, Jennifer enjoys bringing visions to life, creating spaces that bring others joy and inspiring teams into successful outcomes.
“In this crazy world, people need places to relax and unwind. It brings me immense joy to make that happen.”
Ian
VP & Director of Ranch Operations | Owner
Directs all grounds and ranch operations. Ian is an environmental scientist who enjoys bringing sustainability features into the properties. Like a good husband, Ian also prioritizes other duties as assigned by Jennifer.
Ian’s motto, “Happy wife, happy life…unhappy wife, lots of strife!”

Venue Experience & Marketing Manager
Manages all marketing initiatives, including social media content creation, website design and updates, promotions, and supporting brand growth across all platforms. Juli’s creative touches help us connect with prospective clients.

Tricia
Event Styling & Service Manager
Manages service and design, providing as much or as little support as you need to make your event exactly how you envision it and within budget. Tricia’s extensive background in teaching, ranching, decor and design, and event management enhance each client’s experience.

Celebration Logistics Manager
